Tubes!

Friday was the day Charlie had his first surgery and he is only 9 months old. Josh and I know that tubes are not a major ordeal but to give your baby to someone and to have them but them under anesthesia is hard. We got to St. Vincents right at about 5:00 on Friday morning, filled out the paperwork and got taken upstairs to the room that we would be in until we left. They usually don't let people stay in the rooms once the patient is taken to surgery but because it was such a short procedure they allowed us to hang out there. Once we were in the room we got Charlie changed into his little gown and they took his vital signs and we met with Dr. G and the anaesthesiologist. After we met with them we hung out in the room, CP was getting a little fussy by now it was time for breakfast and he couldn't eat and he was tired, luckily the fussing only lasted about 5 minutes before he fell asleep. At about that time the nurse came to get him, since Josh had him and he was asleep I let him take CP back, I don't I would have been able to take him anyway so it was a good thing.

Somewhere around 30 minutes after Josh took him back Dr. G was in our room telling us he was in recovery and that he did great. He told us to expect him to be very cranky for the next couple of hours but he wasn't in pain it was just from the anesthesia. After Dr. G left the nurse came in to let us know about how we needed to care for his ears and all the other fun stuff, she said she spoke to the nurse and she told us that usually she hears the babies crying but she heard nothing from CP. About 45 minutes after Josh took him back he was back in our arms and just as happy as a clam, both the nurses in our room said that his never happens and that they had not seen a baby be this happy after tubes in years if ever.

Needless to say there is not much that gets our little guy down, he was such a trooper and now that the tubes are in place this should clear up his fluid and allow him to hear better. Charlie did get some souvenirs from his trip as well, he got to keep his mask and he was given a little duck.
We go back on Thursday for his post op appointment and will find out a little more then. I know I said we would take some pictures at the hospital but I forgot the camera. Josh and I want to thank everyone for thinking of Charlie and praying for him, again we know this was minor but it meant so much to have support.

Playing with his Duck Friday Afternoon

On Friday after we got home and CP got a nap we went to the consignment sale at our church to see if we could find and good deals. CP got a few new church outfits for the spring that were all priced great and in wonderful condition. He also got a new toy that I am sure he likes way more then the clothes. The toy is like a kitchen table and plays music and talks and it is perfect for him to stand up and play at. From the picture below you can tell he is enjoying his new toy and that the events of the day have not phased him at all.

These last few picture are from last night while he was playing before bed, can't you tell that we have the world most unhappy baby? The last picture and a few others I have posted seem to be showing a trait of his Uncle Gregory and sometimes Uncle Donald, he has a real hard time keeping his eyes open for pictures. Right now it is cute but I am not sure how his future wife will feel about him having his eyes closed in all his wedding picture.
