I fully intended to do a post with pictures tonight but alas my computer is not cooperating with me so I thought I would give a little update on our little guy. Over the past few weeks Coleman has proven to be more and more like his big brother. All those bothersome weight problems we had with Charlie are rearing their ugly head again with Coleman.
We went for his two month check up and he weighted in at 9lbs3oz. To most this sounds like he is gaining weight fine as he started out at 6lb4oz and that would be three pounds in two months but I had taken his in two weeks prior just to get a weight check and he weighted in at 9lbs1oz. This means he gained 2 ounces in 10 days when he should have gained 10 ounces.
After a little talking with the doctor we decided to record everything he ate and he would still nurse and I would offer him a bottle after every feeding for a week and then come back. A week came and went and we returned and he was up to 9lb4oz. You read that right 1 ounce in 7 days when he needed to gain 7 ounces. This result meant a new plan would be set in place to see if he could gain weight.
The plan was a 72 hour formula diet and then return to nursing for 2 day and then come back for a weight check. On Monday we went back for the weight check and Coleman was up to 9lb10 which means he gained 6 ounces in 6 days, exactly what he was suppose to do. This means we know he can gain weight. I left the doctor that day relieved with a plan, Coleman will still nurse for the most part but one feeding each day will be a formula bottle just to make sure he is getting plenty of calories. We head back on March 7th for another weight check and I just pray he continues to gain and we can put this behind us.
I know I shouldn't worry especially since Charlie did this to and is now a perfect almost 3 year old! In other Coleman news he is staring to smile and coo and he is awake more then he is a sleep. He is such a happy baby and fits in to our family just perfect. He still eats every three to four hours during the day and at night he goes to bed at 7:30 has a dream feeding at 9:30 and then sleeps until 7:00 or 7:30. I still can't believe he has been with us for almost three months now I can hardly remember life before him! Hopefully I can get some pictures loaded soon!
