Pumpkin Carving!

Today Charlie helped his daddy carve pumpkins, okay not so much help but he was a great supervisor. He only made it through the first one which was his before he had to go in and take a nap but he was nice enough to give us a smile with his smiley pumpkin.

Josh and I decided to put Charlies costume on him tonight. I am not sure he loved it but it could have been that he was tired when we but it on so maybe on Friday he will like it more. We decided on the monkey because we always call him our little monkey and I thought he would look so cute in it, which he does if I do say so myself.

And last but not least, this is what happens when you give a little boy carrots, he gets a very messy face and bib.

Back to Belly!

Charlie has been able to roll from belly to back now for about 2 months and today he finally went from back to belly, which from what I hear he should have done first but my little boy doesn't seem to do things the conventional way.

I think he was just waiting for me to turn away from him because I had been watching him for about 30 minutes and he kept teasing me as he has down for the last two weeks, by rolling to his side only to roll back to his back. I turned around for 2 seconds to say something to Josh and when I turned back around he was on his belly. I guess he just didn't feel the pressure anymore and decided it was time. Now he is a little pro at it and he can even get his little arm situated so that he can roll back without any help. I guess this means he is getting more mobile and we may need to start really baby proofing the house soon. I tried to get a good video but the little guy is fast so the one I have has him almost all the way from back to belly as soon as I can catch a better one I will and get it loaded for all to see. Sorry in advance for my annoying voice but I love to cheer him on so if you don't want to listen to me just turn the volume down. Enjoy.

Cereal is Great

As I mentioned last week Charlie wasn't a really big fan of the cereal at first. This all has seemed to change, with some advice from my mom I decided to mix some cereal with the the apple sauce he loved. Much to my surprise he loved the cereal and apple sauce combo so I decided to try the cereal solo and he gobbled it up. I am guessing he just had to get used to the new texture. Now that he is use to the new texture he can't get enough of it as you can see in the video he couldn't get it fast enough, my little boy loves to eat and hopefully this will get him gaining some more weight.

I Love My Feet!

For anyone that know me (Becky) well you know that I am not big on feet, quit frankly they have always freaked me out. As I have gotten older I have gotten a little less freaked out by them but still not a big fan. It is quite obvious that my little boy does not share this phobia with his mommy. He found he feet several weeks ago, but it wasn't until the last few days that he was able to get them in his mouth. His new obsession with getting his feet in his mouth has made diaper changing and clothes changing quit difficult because anytime he is on his back he is reaching for them and putting them in his mouth. This new obsession has also made Josh and I realize just how flexible little baby's are. Tonight I decided to get a few shots of him with said feet in his mouth and I now realized just how painfully uncomfortable this looks but he doesn't seem to mind. The funny thing is Josh and I were worried about him sucking his thumb but now we would rather that then his big toe.

Charlie and the Great Pumpkin Patch!

Today we took Charlie to "The Great Pumpkin Patch" in Hayden, AL, and we all had a great time. It was a perfect fall day with the temperature getting to about 65 degrees and sunny skies, we couldn't have asked for a better day. It's day like today that remind me why I love fall so much, don't get me wrong I love summer and the beach but I absolutely love when the weather gets a little cooler with a nice breeze and you have to pull out the jeans and sweaters.

We got to the pumpkin patch a little after 11:00 and much to my surprise the place was packed and we had a little trouble find a parking spot. After we finally found a spot and got inside we enjoyed a show from a local dance theater, I love watching itty bitties dancing, they always look so cute following along and doing the steps. After watching for a few minutes we decided it was time to go to the patch and pick our pumpkins. We took a hayride up to the patch, which was Charlies first hayride and I am pretty sure he enjoyed it. When we got to the patch we walked around for about 15 minutes looking for 2 perfect pumpkins. We wanted one big one and one littler one for Charlie. After scouring the patch we found our two pumpkins and headed back to the farm area. Josh and I enjoyed a funnel cake and listened to some little kids sing when we got back from the patch. Charlie is still fighting his cold and I think it is making him sleepy so while Josh and I were eating our funnel cake he fell asleep. We were going to do the petting zoo but decided not to because Charlie was sleeping and we didn't want to wake him up, so we decided to head back home, maybe next year he will get to check out all the animals.

We had a great day as a family and look forward to many more of these events in the years to come. I know Charlie won't remember this year but I hope this becomes a tradition and when he gets older and has his own kids he can take them and tell them how much he loved it as a kid.

5 Months Old

Yesterday was Charlies five month birthday and I know I say it every month but I can't believe another month has gone by and he has been with us for this long. He is really starting to come into his little personality, the smiles and giggles are abundant these days. He has been talking for a while now but he has gotten more so talkative in the last month. It is so fun to hear him talk to his toys every day on the way to school. I really think he is starting to gain some weight too his little pants are starting to fit and they don't fall off anymore when he has them on, even though I don't know his exact weight gain that is some solid proof for me that he is gaining.

Charlie had a very big weekend that all started Friday night. On Friday night we headed to Books-A-Million at Brookwood Mall for a book signing. If you don't know I am a huge fan of Fox and Friends and Steve Doocy was in town to sign his new book "Tales from the Dad Side". Of course I had to go, Josh said if I could go at lunch and get a good number then we could go. Well I ended up getting number 31, which I though was pretty good, so Josh said we could go. After hearing Mr Doocy speak we waited in line for about 30 minutes and Charlie got to meet his first celebrity and have his picture taken with him. He was so nice to both Josh and I am made funny faces at Charlie to try to get him to smile, which he did, but he was a little tired so it was not full hearted. After leaving the signing we headed to dinner where CP fell asleep.

Charlie meeting Steve Doocy

Saturday was a big day for Charlie, he started eating rice cereal and the verdict is that he hates it. We gave him some Saturday night and he wasn't to keen on it. I thought it may have been because he was tired so I decided to put him to bed and try again in the morning. On Sunday morning I tried again and it was still a no go, I even tried to mix it with apple juice to see if he would like it better but he still seemed to not care for it. Since he didn't like the cereal Josh and I decided to get some apples and make apple sauce for him, which he seemed to like much more. He ate a whole bowl of it with no screaming, crying or turning away at one point he grabbed the spoon and tried to feed himself, I had to help him a little with this. I will continue to try the cereal because I don't' know if he needs to get use to it or not but in a week or two if he still reacts the same way I may stop giving him the cereal and just focus on introducing new fruits and veggies. As for the fruits and veggies we plan on making them like we did the applesauce I plan on adding carrot to his diet next so I will have to keep every one posted on how that goes over.

What the heck is this!

Not to sure about the Cereal I may look happy but I am not Feeding myself applesauce I need a bath now
Charlie also got a new toy this weekend, we thought he was getting bored with just playing on the floor so we bought him the Baby Einstein activity jumper. He really seems to like being able to stand and play with all the toys and listen to the music that plays. The jumper turns so he can get to all the toys put he hasn't quit figured out how to make it turn so we have to rotate the seat so he can see all his toys.

I Love Froggies

I love my new Jumper Playing with the toys that spin
Hey mommy and daddy thanks for my new toy
I guess that covers all the big news that is going on with Charlie over the last week or so. I hope you enjoy all the pictures that I finally got around to posting.

You know your a mom when.......

you open your purse and find a paci and little baby socks inside. I don't even know how they got there but I just opened my purse up to get my keys out and I found these two things staring back at me. That is all the randomness for the day.

First Cold and Work Update!

No pictures right now but I will try to get some on here later in the week just a quick update on how things have been going with Charlie and work. Charlie is still doing great at daycare but it seems that he has picked up a little cold. I thought we had avoided it but it seems to be coming on again. The poor little guy is all stuffed up, which has been making it hard for him to eat, and he is starting to get a little cough to go along with his stuffy nose. I can already tell that he is going to have to the same wonderful cough that his mommy has when I am sick. I have been suctioning his nose out and putting saline drops in his nose to try to help him. He has definitely figured out what the blue bulb is and turns his head away every time I go to use it but he really doesn't mind the saline drops going in. He is still sleeping well, which is mostly attributed to the fact that he doesn't nap at school very well. I picked him up yesterday and according to his report card he had not napped once yesterday, talk about a tired baby he was in bead asleep at 7:30 and didn't wake up until 5 to eat and then went right back down until I got him up at 6:45 to get dressed and go to school. He was a little grumpy this morning too but I am attributing that to the stuffy nose, poor Ms. Wanda had to work pretty hard to get a smile out of him this morning and usually all she has to do is say his name. I sure hope he gets over this soon and doesn't pass it on to Josh or I.

As for me work is going good, I am continuing to learn more and figure things out as the days go by. I really like where I am, they keep me pretty busy, which is what I need so that my days go by fast and I can get back to my little man. I really think that working has also helped me get back on track with running and it has helped me lose more of that baby weight since I can no longer snack all day long, at least that is the way I am looking at it. I still miss Charlie so much and wish I could bring him with with me everyday. I treasure every second I have with him at night and on the weekends and I hate leaving him every morning, but I know God will get us through this and that both Charlie and I will be better for the time we spend apart.

Stay tuned for more updates Charlie is close to learning a new trick you will have to check back to find out what it is and to see the video.

Long Over Due!

I know it has been a while but things have been pretty busy here at the Wood's since I started back to work and most of our free time has been spent playing with Charlie. Here is a quick update to let everyone know what has been going on. Charlie seems to be doing well at school, he really likes his teachers the only problem he seems to have is taking naps. According to his teachers he takes a few cat naps through out the day but never really settles into a good nap. This makes for one tired baby when he gets home which means he has been going to bed earlier and sleeping better at night. I guess this isn't a bad thing though since I am getter better nights sleep. We haven't had a chance to take him back to the doctor to get his weight checked but I am pretty sure he is gaining because his 0-3 month clothes are actually starting to fit him now that he is almost 5 months old, that's right we still have yet to outgrow any of his clothes.

Today we had all of our family in town for Charlies Christening. He did so good through the whole service and didn't mind getting the cold water on his head. He looked so cute wearing the Christening gown that PePa and I wore when we were Christened (Josh called it his armour because it sounded better then a dress). After the service we had everyone back at our house for lunch and I little time to visit. It really was a great day and we are all pretty tired but enjoyed every minute of spending time with our family.
