Elves!

Charlie has been surrounded by Elves over the last few days. They have been on his clothes and he even has and Elf named Maxwell that is watching everything he does and reports back to Santa.

Looking Cute in my Elf Outfit!
I hope Maxwell isn't watching me because I am being Naughty!
Maxwell wanted to play after breakfast!
He got tired so CP was putting him up on his shelf!

Live Nativity!

Tonight we went to the Live Nativity at our Church. It was pretty cold but that didn't seem to bother Charlie, he was just happy to be outside. There were several baby goats (3 weeks old) that Charlie was able to pet, the donkey and the camel however were not very friendly and Charlie did not get to pet them. After Charlie was through playing with the goats we listened to some carols as well as the hand bells, which he loved, and then we decided we needed to get out of the cold and head home. I am glad we took him this year, even though he doesn't fully understand what a Nativity is I think it is good for us to start teaching him early so he will know the true reason for the Christmas Season!

I've been bit!

I've been bit by the sewing bug, in the last three days I have made three pair of pants and 2 shirts for Charlie and have plans to make even more. I didn't really do any sewing on the shirts but I needed to make something for him to wear with his new pants so I took some advice from my Sister in Law Molly and bought some double stick web and appliqued a few shirts. So my mom can see what I have been up to lately I thought I would share a few of my latest creations as well as a picture of mister Charlie hamming it up for the camera!

This was not made by me but I thought the picture was cute!

Here Comes Santa Claus!

On Saturday we took Charlie to see Santa at Bass Pro Shop. He did great standing in line waiting and he walked up to Santa all smiles to say hello when it was his turn. Things turned a little sour though when Charlie went to sit in his lap, he had the look of sheer terror on his face and wasn't sure if he should start crying or try to jump out of his lap. After some calming words from mommy and a quick hug he sat still long enough for his picture and then was so very happy to be back in my arms. Hopefully next year he will be a little more excited when he goes to visit Santa!

Not happy right now but being a good Sport!

It's begining to look alot like Christmas!

This weekend we decorated the house for Christmas, and I will have to say it is one of my favorite things to do. Right now our house smells like one big Christmas tree and I couldn't be happier. Charlie missed out on most of the decorating because he was napping but he was able to help me finish up the tree by handing me the last few ornaments. I can already tell that this Christmas will be far different then last Christmas, we will be telling Charlie no an awful lot at he pulls at ornaments, stockings and all the other fun things he can reach, last year he wasn't mobile so we had no worries.

As much fun as I do have decorating our house for Christmas I also realize that decorating is not what it is all about. As much fun as it is we all must still remember the real meaning of Christmas and I hope that in the years to come Josh and I are able to instill in Charlie that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and not just about gifts and decorations.

Let it Snow!

On Saturday we woke up to a dusting so I thought it would be a good opportunity to get Charlie dressed and take him outside before it all melted. CP was not sure about walking in the grass, I am guessing he didn't want to because it looked different then it normally does. He finally got out in the grass and walked around for a bit and touched some snow but wasn't to happy when he got it on his hands. After about ten minutes we came inside to warm up, and about an hour later all the snow was gone!

What is up with this grass!
Not thrilled about me taking pictures!
Still not happy with me!

First Hair Cut!

On Saturday November 28th Charlie went to get his hair cut for the first time. He didn't just go to any run of the mill establishment but Charlie went to meet Bobby, the same man that cut Josh's hair for the first time and the same man that still cuts Charlie's Pop's hair. Charlie did great for the most part, there were no tears but there was a lot of curiosity, which made for a hard time of keeping our little boys head still. After all was said and done Charlie looks much older, his hair is now out of his eyes and he still has some curls in the back.

Right before CP got his hair cut!
Look how long that hair is in the back!

One Messy 18 month Old!

I can't hardly believe it but Charlie is 18 months old and he is one messy and crazy little boy. These days he is all over the place climbing anything and everything that he can and pulling out anything and everything he can find. He is chatting up a storm, dancing all over the place and exploring his boundaries. I will have to say that I love this age so much there really is nothing better then when your child comes running at you, arms wide open and saying mommy!

Last Friday we took Charlie to see Dr. Joe for his 18 month checkup. Our little guy did so great and Dr. Joe could hardly believe how much he has grown in the last 6 months. The only issue we came across was that the tube in his right ear is looking as though it is coming out. Both Josh and I are hoping that when it does fall out we will not have to have it replaced. At his check up he had to get two shots, we decided to postpone his 2 vaccines and get the seasonal flu and he h1n1 shots instead. Dr Joe decided that was the best thing to do and that we would just wait a month and he would come in and get the 2 vaccines he missed. No real biggie it just means that Charlie will have to get shots again in just a few weeks. Below are Charlie's stats from his 18 month check up.

Length at Birth: 20 1/4"

Length at 2 months: 23"

Length at 4 months: 25 1/8"

Length at 6 months: 26"

Length at 9 months: 28 7/8"(50%)

Length at 12 months: 29 5/8" (50%)

Length at 15 months: 30 7/8" (50%)

Length at 18 months: 33

Weight at Birth: 6.5lbs

Weight at 2 months: 10lbs

Weight at 4 months: 10lbs12oz (as you can see not a lot of weight gain)

Weight at 6 months: 13lbs5oz (still 5% but he is gaining)

Weight at 9 months: 16lbs11oz (still 5%)

Weight at 12 months: 16lbs12oz (dropped below 5%, weight stalled out again)

Weight at 15 months: 21lbs4oz (way to go CP 10%)

Weight at 18 month: 23lbs11oz (still gaining great!)

Head circumference: 15"

Head circumference: 16"

Head circumference: 17"

Head circumference: 18"(I think)

Look What Daddy Taught Me!!!

Not only have we accomplished the slide while sitting up, today I thought I would teach CP how to climb up the back of the playset to get to the top of the slide. He needed a little help on the first try but after that he was doing it all on his own. Now we just have to sit back and await the first broken limb.

Mommy gets Crafty!

I decided last week that I was going to pull out the sewing machine my mom had given me and teach myself how to make Charlie some pants. I bought a few remnants of fabric to practice on, the first pair didn't turn out so great so I just gave up on them and moved on to the second pair. Much to my surprise I finished them hem and all and they actually looked like pants. The only problem was that the fabric was quite hideous but that is what you get when you buy remnants. Since I was successful with those pants I decided I could buy some cute fabric and make a pair that Charlie could actually wear.

The finished product is below and I think they turned out pretty good, I still need to get a little bit better at the hem but I think that will come with practice. I am hoping to but my new skill to use and make Charlie several pants that will go with all the super cute shirts that his Aunt Molly has made him.

Trick or Treat!

Last night we took Charlie Trick or Treating for the first time, since he was only 5 months old last year and sick he didn't go out on Halloween. For Halloween Charlie went as a Train Conductor, and I am pretty sure he was the cutest train conductor there ever was. We only took him to about five or so houses before he had enough and wanted to be carried so we decided that it was time to come home. When we got home Charlie decided it was much easier to Trick or Treat from the bucket of candy at the house. About every five or so minutes Josh had to dump Charlies bucket back into the big candy bucket because he had moved all the candy from the big bucket to his bucket. As the night went out Charlie stood inside and waved at all the Trick or Treater's we had and pushed around a Tupperware bin that we had gotten to put all his baby clothes in.

To close out the night before Charlie went to bed we had to have a little drama. Our poor little guy got his fingers smashed in the door, I really thought he might have broken one of his little fingers. I have never heard him scream and cry so hard, after about 5 minutes of crying and finding a paci for him he was okay but wanted to stay close to mommy. After his little accident we decided that it was bed time. Aside from the accident I know Charlie has so much fun on Halloween and I really can't wait until next year!
